On May 12, we gathered again for a physical lunch presentation at « Sällskapet » in Stockholm. We had the pleasure of listening to Per Andersson, Head of Investor Relations at SEB.
The focus on the presentation was on SEB as a bank and how they will work in the future to continue to be an attractive bank for both individuals and companies. SEB is constantly highlighted in the prestigious consumer survey « Prospera », where they have been ranked number 1 among banks in Sweden in the category Large Companies and Financial Institutions. They were also named Bank of the year by « Privata Affärer » in 2021 and continue to strive to be top-ranked in these customer surveys.
As a sector, the banking industry has been in a transformation in recent years, where digital is given priority over the physical ones and where bank bransches are being replaced by internet banking. Despite the face that they have closed down local offices, SEB is more accessible than before, with an internet bank that is constantly improving and with a telephone support that is open all hours of the week.
Some focus was also placed on sustainability and on the bank’s ability to influence. They have, among other things, two houndred thousand large companies, about three hundred thousand small companies and one and a half million private individuals as customers. As a bank, SEB believes that they have an important role in financing the transition to more suistainable energy through financing and advice for cusomers’ conversion.
The good credit growth together with good cost control in recent years has resulted in good income growth, which Per thought would continiue now with interest rates rising to more normal levels.
